How much did all the blown calls help the Yankees through the post season?
I dont know if it was fixed or what. All the blown calls by the stupid umires really helped the Yankees win through the post season. The leadoff fair ball hit by the Twins that was clearly fair but called foul. Right after that, they got another hit that could have scored a run. With the Angels the Yankees got caught in a rundown and both runners got tagged at the same time and both were called safe. Another runner for the Yankees got picked off at 2nd base and was called safe. Another won was the homerun hit by Arod with the Phillies that never went over the fence because of the camera and he got that homerun. If it wasnt for all these horrible calls, where would the Yankees be? Is it about time baseball gets instant replay so the game can be fair? It wouldnt take any more time if there is a person in the booth inside talking to the umpires outside. All these blown calls is getting rediculous!
There were so many blown calls on both sides for every series, it's hard to say.
The Yankees were easily the best team in baseball though.
The one I REALLY couldn't understand was when Posada and Cano were both caught off third base and were tagged by the catcher. That was the most blatant.
But A-Rod's HR (that hit the camera) was a correct call.
And, as I said, the best team won...period.
Fans blaming the umps every time a team they don't like wins a game or a series is getting old. No one was close to the Yankees this year. They were by far the best team.
The phrase "curb appeal" has literally become a household word in the last few years – most homeowners want their house to have that pizzazz on first glance. So how does one get the nod from neighbors without spending too much money in the process?
One of the first things you can do is take an objective look at your house, both your yards - front and back, and assess how your house fits in with the neighborhood in general. Do some sections of your exterior need updating? Are there obvious areas in need of repair, such as fence slats or roof tiles?
Whether you are updating your home for your own pleasure, or sprucing your home up to appeal to potential buyers, here are some easy ways to redo your outdoor space and boost your curb appeal:
Change your numbers: Installing easily visible house numbers immediately adds flair to the look of your house. This quick change is greatly appreciated by anyone looking for a house address, especially after dark. There are many options for house numbers – from brass or other metals to decorative ceramic designs. Look into incorporating a decorative lantern beside your address, or a small flood light for easy viewing by visitors after the sun sets.
Less can be more: De-cluttering is a popular goal inside homes, but it also applies to your yards. Is your lawn gnome collection growing out of control? Do you have a lot of stuff, such as kids' toys, etc., on the lawn that would be better stored in a backyard shed? Maybe it is time to either drastically trim or completely remove those overgrown shrubs.
Light the night: One of the more attractive ways to increase your evening curb appeal is to add low voltage, or even solar powered lamps along your sidewalk. Weaving a string of white lights through a tree near your house adds an inviting and often romantic touch to your home.
Color is key: Making a complete change with a full exterior paint job can bring an entirely new life to your home. But if your budget will now allow such a major overhaul, consider painting or staining the trim areas – door and window frames, shutters and fence posts. Re-staining or painting your deck or front porch will also make a significant difference to the look of your home. You may also want to consider replacing your front door with an updated design and color.
Plant a new look: Seasonal plants make a world of difference to the curb appeal of your home. If you don't have room, or the desire, to plant a large garden, a small collection of planter boxes or decorative pots will suffice. Check with your local nursery retailer to find out which plants are best for the current season, and add them to the front of your house for instant visual pleasure.
