Pet Containment

Anyone have an invisible fence for pets? We do & it is failing. What's next option?

We live in a community with leash law so it is imperative to keep our dog contained. The collar was turned up as high as it could go & the dog left the yard the next day. Yes, it works. Anybody have fence failure & what was your next choice of containment?

we have a great dane, and we installed an invisible fence for him. it worked for the first few weeks, but then as he started to grow, he outgrew it. those fences only go up about 2 feet, so if your dog is taller than that, he won't feel it. either that or he just wants to be out so he'll run through really fast and then won't go back in cause he know's it'll shock him. we had to return the fence and get a chain link 6x10 foot pen. you can buy them already assembled or put them together yourself, but it's large enough for them to be ok in, but small and cheap enough that it doesn't put you out much. i think ours was $200, so we used the refund from the invisible fence to get it. we let him out when we are there to supervise, and he seems fine.

Have you ever noticed that when you "try" to stop focusing on something you can't? If I were to say don't think of pink elephants you would find yourself thinking pink elephants. If you're the visual type, you might even be seeing one in your mind's eye. So how do you stop negative thinking? Read on to discover three easy steps to stop negative thinking.

Change Your Focus
The easiest way to get out of negative thinking is to change your focus. You need to take your mind off what is negative and place it on something else. This sounds easy but it can be harder than you think. You may be worried about your job, about money, about your health, your relationship - any one of these worries can send you spiraling downward. But if you are not able to do anything about any of these things right now then you need to focus on something else.

Worrying away at something doesn't change it and it brings more for you to worry about because that is where you are placing your attention. The easiest way to distract your mind is to go read a book, play a computer game, watch a funny movie, go get some exercise, take a walk, go out into nature, play with your dog or your children, play a board game with someone, listen to some good music. If you're an artist or writer, draw, paint or do some stream of conscious writing. If you like to work on things, go fix something.
There's an old saying "idle hands are the devil's workshop." What this says to me is get up and get moving, take your attention off your problem and do something different.
Just shift.

Take A Moment to Dream
Play the "what if" game with yourself. Whatever you focus on that is negative has a positive side to it. What is that? Focus on that aspect rather than the negative. Maybe you're worried about your finances.
Give yourself a break and imagine what it would be like to not worry about your finances. Enjoy a moment of reverie that is opposite of what you are worrying about. Notice your feelings - see if you can stay in that feeling or find a way to propagate that feeling within you. Play the game with yourself of "if this were to happen, how would it feel?" Try and place yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally in the picture.
Feel the feelings of wealth, of love, of health, of your beauty. Regardless of whether or not you believe it, you are beautiful. Why? Because you are a child of the universe and you are here now. That makes you beautiful in my book.

Use Creative Visualization to Shift Your Energy
You are energy - all of you - and everything you see and perceive is also energy. In fact, everything is energy, period. When you're feeling down, when you're focusing on the negative, that is the energy you are emitting and aligning with in the universe. It doesn't make you bad, it just makes you a black hole for the negative stuff.
To shift your energy, try imagining yourself in a special place. In that special place, there is a magical shower. When you enter the magical shower, you are perfectly protected and safe at all times. You command the space.
The shower-head is above you about 10-15 feet coming straight out of the heavens. Pouring out of it is a golden liquid, like liquid sunlight and it has the ability to not only wash away the negativity on the outside of your being, but on the inside as well. Watch as these negative thoughts get washed right down the drain. The drain goes into the center of the earth where the negative energy is transformed back into a neutral state for use again somewhere else. The drain only goes one way, down.

Feel this golden light wash over and inside of you. Feel Its life-giving refreshment. It fills your cells with Its golden light and if you cells, when bathed in this golden light sing in harmony, like an angelic choir.
Give thanks for this magical shower and realize that it is available to you at any time of the day or night - whenever you need it. Just go there and wash yourself clean of negative energy.

Don't Be Fooled

Don't be fooled into thinking that because these exercises seem too simple that they can't work. Simplicity is the key to them working. Complicated Mouse Trap game-like contraptions are too complicated to follow. Your mind needs something easy that it can't take apart a million different ways or get lost in the maze of trying to figure it out.

Wherever you place your focus is what is going to be attracted to you. You can learn easily and effortlessly to create a life that you desire by simply changing your focus, dreaming a different dream or using energy tools to eliminate the problem at its source.

There are 4 species of mink: Mustela vison, Mustela vison evergladensis, Mustela lutreola, Mustela macrodon.

Mink are in the same family as otters and polecats.

ItÂ’s true, the mink has been highly prized for itÂ’s fur, and this lead the way to large-scale mink farming. This is the precise reason that the animal welfare activists have been vocal and adamant about standing up for the mink. Preferring a habitat of forest brooks, the American mink is well suited to itÂ’s homeland range. However, the Everglade mink, a subspecies, is very endangered. The Great Lakes mink has had a widespread decline, primarily thought to be due to pollution of PCBs and dioxins.

Mink have an extremely high mortality rate. Mink that survive the 1st yr of life in the wild can live as long as 3 yrs. In contrast, mink in captivity have been known to live between 10-12 yrs. ThatÂ’s a huge difference. The other problem is that, in captivity anyway, they will have 4-5 kits per litter and thatÂ’s only once/yr. Unfortunately, this number would be dramatically reduced when it comes to breeding in the wild.

What Can You Do To Help?

1. Help stand up for the mink by not purchasing or wearing mink fur coats.

2. Donate to local and worldwide animal welfare groups.

What if the DJ shows up in jeans and a tee shirt, or the band is comprised of different members than those you auditioned, or your wedding entertainers come late, leave early and take too many long breaks? Worse yet, what if they just don't show up at all?

That's where a good wedding entertainment contract comes in. After you have decided who to hire but before any money changes hands, you should have an ironclad contract signed by the vendor and the paying party that spells out all the specifics of your celebration and fairly protects the interests of both parties.

Here is what a good wedding entertainment contract should include:

1. The exact date of your wedding (including the day of the week) and the time you need the vendor to be at the site. Consider the amount of time they need to set up.
2. The length of time for which they will be providing entertainment. Make sure this lists a specific number of hours and the exact hourly charge for any extra time.
3. The number and length of breaks the entertainment can take, and where they are to go during those breaks. Will meals be provided? Where should they eat? Should they stay hidden from guests during this time?
4. The dress code. Spell out exactly what the wedding entertainers should be wearing, whether it be tuxedos, business wear, all black or a costume. Don't forget to include shoes in this section.
5. The exact number of people included in the wedding entertainment package, including the names of any specific performers and the names of who will be the backups in case those first choice players have an emergency. Make sure you meet with these understudies and approve them beforehand.
6. Payment terms, including the amount of deposit, whether or not it is refundable and under what circumstances, and when final payment must be made.
7. Any site requirements. For example, bands and DJs may specify that the facility have specific electrical and audio capabilities. You made need to ensure your site allows fireworks or open flames for other forms of wedding entertainment.
8. Specific equipment the wedding entertainment vendor is to provide, and specific items you are to provide.
9. The name and cell phone number of an emergency contact person in case something goes wrong the day of, including the vendor getting lost or not showing up.
10. The last date to make any changes to services, such as new songs, more time or costume amendments.

Most reputable wedding entertainment vendors will already have a prewritten contract as a starting point for negotiations and will allow for additions or reasonable deletions. Never work with a vendor who does not want to use a contract. Without that formal, legal agreement you have absolutely no protection if something goes wrong with this important part of your special day. Never pay any money, including a deposit, until a contract is signed - even to hold a date. Don't take a chance on such an important occasion!
