Has anyone ever taken a pet on an AirPlane?

have a 4lbs dog. I have called one airline carrier and they said she has to go in the cargo area. I know I have seen people on air planes with pets in pet carriers in the cabin. My dog would not do well in the cargo area she would be terrified.

Absolutely NOT!!!!!

Specially if your pet is only 4 lbs?! you should Absolutely be able to keep him with you.

I have traveled with my pet- she's a 10 LBS Yorkie! American airlines, Delta and United. Also smaller companies such as Jet Blue etc.

This is what you do- you call the air line company after you've purchased your flight ticket and tell them that you will be bringing your 4lb dog with you and that he will be in a carry on. They will charge you an additional $100 to $125 dollars as a "pet ticket".

You buy a carry on that meets the airline's requirements (they will give you the measures of the carry on which goes UNDER the seat that is right in front of you, meaning that your pet will be right at your feet.) and show up with your dog that day at the airport. You don't pay for the ticket until you get to the airport and "check" your pet in. He/she must stay inside this crate the whole trip though- they won't allow you to bring him out at all.

You will also need to bring with you a health certificate which the airline will require. You get this from your dog's vet which is basically just a print out of all of your dog's shots to let the air line know that your pet is up to date on his shots and safe.

So, all in all:

1) chose the company that you're going to travel on

2) call their customer service dept. and speak with a LIVE person (not a computer) who you can ask if you can bring your pet with you, and what are the crate meassurements that you need to stick to, to be able to put your dog under the seat.

3) go to your vet and get a health certificate showing that your pet is up to date on all his shots (this should be dated within 10-15 days of your flight)

4) Buy the crate and stick to the Airline's size requirements (which they should give to you over the phone)

5) bring your pooch to the airport inside his crate, buy his ticket at the counter on the day of your travel

6) Pray that your dog is not a cryer, and enjoy your trip with your best friend =)

The word "Chihuahua" means an arid, sandy place and there are actually several types of Chihuahua dogs. Apple head Chihuahuas have a very round head, a small snout, and close-set eyes. Their heads can be shaped like deer or they can have apple heads. These fascinating animals originated in Chihuahua, Mexico and were objects of worship to the ancient Aztecs. It is believed that Chihuahuas may be the oldest breed of dog to exist in the American continents.

If you love Chihuahuas, of course you'll want to know more about them. Whichever type of Chihuahua dog you find, you owe it to yourself to think about taking one of these small devoted dogs home with you; you will find them to be entertaining and companionable pets for many years to come. The ones with deer heads have an elongated nose similar to Doberman Pinschers. The darling tan dog that starred in the Taco Bell commercial is representative of the most popular type of Chihuahua. Don't be fooled into paying more for a Chihuahua merely because of its description.

Long-Haired Chihuahuas can have flat or curly hair, and it is quite soft, with extra fluff around the tail and ears. The Chihuahua in part due to their portable size has become quite popular lately and their popularity continues to grow. In addition, once you buy one Chihuahua, you will want to get another! All Chihuahuas are genetically a toy breed, and breeding to produce the tiniest dog possible is a long-established custom. Standard Chihuahuas today weight six pounds or less, and are six to nine inches tall. A slighter larger breed of Chihuahua existed in the 2nd century BC, and was known as a symbol of the upper class.

If you live in an apartment, you couldn't do better than to get one of these tiny dogs. The American Kennel Club recognizes long-haired and short-haired types of Chihuahuas. Chihuahuas come in all sorts of colors, including chocolate, cream, silver, blue, black and fawn. Although the Chihuahua is known as the smallest of the dog breeds, but what many people don't realize is there are different Chihuahua types. Their tail is sometimes curved. It was probably bred with miniature Chinese dogs which the Spanish introduced to the New World. It's easy to understand why Chihuahuas are the 10th most popular dog in the United States, since they're such an intelligent dog, and fiercely protective of their owners.

Shorthaired companions may need a little extra warmth, sometimes burrowing under covers to maintain their body heat while asleep. They are wonderful companions and live a long life, in many cases getting to be 16 years or older. The terms "teacup" and "mini" when applied to Chihuahuas are merely commercial designations used to try to elicit high prices from the buyer. This little powerhouse has a huge heart so don't be fooled by its tiny size! The smooth coat of the short-haired type sheds very little. My friend has a Chihuahua that will growl whenever anyone has the audacity to uncover her.

To get the best possible sapphire wedding band it is not necessary to know all about sapphires, but obviously the more you know the better your chances of getting the best possible sapphire wedding band available.

The word Sapphire, from the Hebrew word Sapir, is the single-crystal form of aluminum oxide (Al2O3), a mineral known as corundum. It can be found naturally as gemstones or manufactured in large crystal boules for a variety of applications.

The corundum group consists of pure aluminum oxide. Trace amounts of other elements such as iron and chromium give sapphires their blue, red, yellow, pink, purple, orange or greenish color. Sapphire includes any gemstone quality varieties of the mineral corundum including the red variety, which is also known as ruby.

Blue sapphires come in a wide range of shades of blue and Titanium and iron inclusions within the aluminum oxide create the different shades of blue.

Most of all sapphires are heated to a temperature of up to around 1800°C for several hours and some stones are also heated in a nitrogen deficient atmosphere ovens for a week now. The purpose of this is to give the stone a better color.

You can find out if a stone has been heated by looking under magnification. If the needles are unbroken, then the stone was not heated. If the silk is not visible then the stone was heated adequately. If the silk is partially broken then a process known as low tube heat was used.

Low tube heat is the process where the rough stone is heated to 1300 °C for 20 to 30 minutes over charcoal. This takes out any gray or brown in the stone and improves color saturation.

You can also get fancy sapphires. These are any sapphire other than blue or red. Purple sapphires are lower in price than blue ones. These stones contain the trace element vanadium and come in a wide variety of shades. Yellow and green sapphires have traces of iron which gives them their color. Pink sapphires are have trace element of chromium and the deeper the color pink the higher the value as long as the color is going toward red of rubies. Color shift sapphires are blue in outdoor light and purple in indoor light.

Colour changes may also be pink in daylight to greenish in fluorescent light. Some stones shift color well and others only partially, in that some stones go from blue to blue purple. White sapphires usually come out of the ground as light gray or brown and are then heated to make them clear. However in very rare circumstances they will be found in a clear state.

The sapphire has long symbolized truth, sincerity, and faithfulness. Tradition holds that Moses was given the ten commandments on tablets of sapphire, making it the most sacred gemstone. Because sapphires represent divine favor, they were the gemstone of choice for kings and high priests. The British Crown Jewels are full of large blue sapphires, the symbol of pure and wise rulers.

Since sapphire symbolizes sincerity and faithfulness, it is an excellent choice for an engagement ring. When Prince Charles chose a sapphire engagement ring for Princess Diana, couples all over the world were inspired to revive this venerable tradition.

Sapphire is also the birthstone for September, the month when the most babies are born. Ancient lists also name sapphire as a birthstone for April and the gemstone for the sign of Taurus.

"Fine blue sapphires are tremendously undervalued," says David Federman, United States author of Consumer Guide to Colored Gemstones and other gem books. "Fine Kashmir and Burma sapphires are much rarer than Burma rubies and yet they are available for much less. Even fine Sri Lankan sapphires are rare to see these days. There is nothing more restful to the soul than a fine sapphire."

Well, you're talking two different things here. What's the smallest saltwater aquarium possible? I've seen ones under a gallon (no fish, only macroalge, live rock, and invertebrates), but this size is very difficult to care for and there are no fish in these for a reason - most wouldn't survive.

What you want to know is what's the smallest tank for either of the puffers you mention. As adults (what you need to plan for) is at least a 100 gallon tank for either type. This may seem like a lot, but both fish will grow over a foot, and puffers as a rule are very sensitive to water quality, so the volume makes any changes in water chemistry more gradual.

The Denali National Park is found about 380 kms to the north of Anchorage in Alaska. Visitors would have to lodge or camp in the nearby parks.
