Dog brush, the Furminator, how well do they work?

i'm looking into getting a large furminator for my rottweiler because she sheds like crazy and it claims to reduce shedding up to 90%.
anyone had any good or bad experience with the furminator?

The furminator works wonderfully on Rottweilers, I have had many come in and have used it on all of them with great sucess. I usually fill up one of those blue plastic grocery bags full of undercoat. What you see on their website is exactly the way it works. Just be sure to use it properly, short strokes, the hair will fill the comb very quickly so be prepared with a bag to put it in. Looking for a remote trainer for my small dog.?

I am looking for information on remotes/collars only. I have tried everything and am now looking for a remote or collar that is remote controlled that allows different levels of sound. I saw one once that had 5 levels but can no longer find it. There was also one where you could set the pitch to a tone that your dog would respond to instead of a preset pitch. Please help!

Personally, I think you need to work with a trainer before you try to use it by yourself.

In using it with my dog, I found that timing. is. everything. It has to be *precise*. It is too easy for an inexperienced person to become unaware of what to do in the particular situation they are training in, and press that button at the wrong time. You are not aware of what to do if you're dog has an unexpected reaction to a command.

Using it at the wrong time can ruin a dog, and it is not a chance I am willing to take by trying it on my own without first consulting a professional.

An unruly dog can be quite a nuisance when going to the park, walking, or even in your own back yard. Neighbors and bystanders can get frustrated by barking and being bothered by your pet. Although running around, barking and playing are all natural behaviors of your dog, everyday activities with them are much easier if they are taught to obey commands and behave in an appropriate manner. Sometimes leash training is not enough and other methods must be used.

A remote trainer is a device many owners are now using as a way to teach their dog appropriate behavior and follow commands. This device allows you to train your dog without a leash. It consists of a collar and a remote control device that delivers a set level of static shock when a command is disobeyed. This shock grabs your dog's attention and teaches them that the discomfort will come when they do not listen to you. The collar has a box with two electrodes. These electrodes must contact the skin in order for it to function properly.

When using one of these devices, take off their regular collar. Have them wear the trainer collar a few times before starting to correct their behaviors so they can become accustomed to it. Training is much like any other dog training. Start with one basic behavior command such as sit or stay and use the correction if they do not follow the command. You may have to show them what the command means a few times before using the correction. Attempt to teach them with a leash for basic understanding before using the remote trainer. If they disobey, correct them with the collar. Give them praise if they follow the command. After one command has been mastered, move on to the next one.

Always start out with the lowest correction level. Increase it as the dog continues to disobey. Continue repeating the command word and giving corrections until the dog obeys. These trainers are not only good for correcting bad behavior, you can also use them to teach your dog tricks and keep them safe. Walking can be a much more pleasant event because you will not have to shout at your dog and can walk them without a leash if desired. This means no more jerking and pulling.

As a dog owner, activities with your dog should be enjoyable for both you and your pet. When your dog does not listen and obey you, this makes each activity stressful and frustrating. All the fun and relaxation is removed and your pet does not get the satisfaction they need while being out. A remote trainer may be just what you need when your dog is not behaving properly and will not listen to you. It will allow you to adjust corrections according to the situation and has been proven to help correct the most disobedient of dogs. Don't spend all your time yelling at your companion and confusing them. Train them to listen to you and understand what is expected of them and everything you do with your best friend will be rewarding and fun.

A remote trainer is an effective way to teach your dog how to follow commands and obey you. A disobedient dog can be a nuisance to everyone around you and make everyday outdoor activities a horrific event. By teaching them how to follow your commands, getting your dog outside and active will be relaxing and fun for the both of you. Rabbits are extraordinary within our society as they are one of the few animals that are viewed as food by some people and as pets as others. The number of homes that have indoor rabbits has been increasing at such a pace that there now exists a House Rabbit Society organization to distribute useful information about how rabbits may be kept safely and in a fit manner within a home situation.

One attribute about rabbits that interferes with them enjoying free run within a home is their tendency for chewing. Although rabbits can be successfully trained to use a litter box, it is more challenging for them to be convinced not to chew such things as furniture legs and electrical wires. This is why many owners of house rabbits seek an indoor hutch or rabbit cage in which their long-eared pets may be kept when they cannot be supervised.

According to the House Rabbit Society, a rabbit's housing should provide several things. They need to be able to totally stretch out in all directions. They require at least two levels, so they may jump up and down for work out. They need a supply of food, especially hay, as well as water. And, of course, a litter box is needed.

A modern trend in building indoor rabbit hutches is to make a "bunny condo" out of modular storage cube squares. Many hardware and home furnishing stores sell 14-inch square wire cube components for making modular storage units. These squares can be used to construct a multi-level rabbit house that provides sufficient space for all the requirements as specified by the House Rabbit Society.

Building a rabbit condo that is three squares wide, three squares high and two squares deep will create an area measuring more than 28 cubic feet in capacity. This is far more spacious than the normal dog carrier that many people use for housing their indoor rabbits.

When building a rabbit condo, several other considerations should be kept in mind. The bare wire floor should never be used by itself, but should be covered with a material such as plywood. For easiness in cleaning, covering the flooring and shelving with vinyl tiles or linoleum is recommended. However, it should not be too slippery a surface, as rabbit feet were intended for hopping on natural earth and grass, not on smooth artificial surfaces.

Several plans for rabbit condos are now accessible across the Internet, and most of them would give all the safety, security and living space a house rabbit needs. Still, they cannot be locked away all the time. Even a rabbit in a fancy condo wants to get out into the house for some good exercise including running and jumping for quite a few hours at a time.

7. Check out the local Christmas markets or plan to visit a theme park that opens during the holiday season. Train rides, tours of lights and visits to see Santa are some of the things you can expect to find no matter where you go on your Christmas holiday.

8. Pack a small bag of supplies for your tots to make decorations for your holiday home. Or pop to the local supermarket on arrival to stock up on the makings of some batches of Christmas biscuits or mince pies (though you may need to pack a jar of mincemeat from home!)

9. Before your trip, read about how children celebrate Christmas in other countries.You can perhaps introduce some new traditions during the holiday, to take home with you for future Christmases.

10. Enjoy the relaxation that being away from your home environment brings - no racing around visiting friends and family, no sale shopping, no 'let's use the time off to decorate the spare room' - just chill out and enjoy time as a family!

The characteristic of a pear shape is a long and slender neck, with a narrow back and sloping shoulders. They have a defined waist with curvy hips and bottom, typically with full thighs, calves and ankles.

Styling pear shape is all about balancing the upper half and lower bottom. Give the appearance of wider shoulders and bigger bust this will help take the attention off the widest part of the body by bringing the eyes up to your face, neck, bust and waist. So in other words the trick is to over play your upper body and give your lower body a slimmer, sleeker look. Do this by using color on top, wide neck lines, accentuate your waste and wear dark colors on the bottom.

Short tight skirts should be avoided as these will draw attention to the problematic thigh area and the area below the waist that carries the most weight. Instead it's much better for pear shaped ladies to wear a-line or maxi styles that flair out and will not cling to the lower area.

If you want to go tight with a body-con jersey design and are worried about your tum and hips, as we all are, then the overlay trim is the perfect style solution for you. It is draped at the front, almost like an attached wrap, so it conceals proportions and is flattering as it's not too figure hugging.

Dresses can be great especially those with a wide waist-band or big belt, again A-line and maxi are great too. When choosing a dress, choose ones with an empire waist or high empire line, which will conceal the heavier hip area. Sleek shoes with a thinner heel will work better than chunky footwear.

As your bottom half is slightly larger than your upper half, you can try wearing slightly looser fitting cloths on top with ease. However, fitted tops look fantastic on a pear, so accentuate your sinuous upper half with strapless, bandeaux or sweetheart necklines. Tops with a lot of detailing, all sorts of prints with lighter and brighter colors, or textured fabrics will best suit you as your blouse. Go bright, for example poppy teal and emerald would be great colours for you.

Angular shoulders, like the current Balmain jacket trend is fantastic for widening the silhouette and creating more balance, as is accentuating the sleeve with a puff, cap or feather detail.

It's a simple trick which is almost every time overlooked. This

simple trick has proven to be a very comforting experience for

me.

Let's look at it from scratch. In any interior space in our home,

furniture plays a major role as far as comfort qualities are

concerned. Furniture is the first thing that we see. When we

say that a room is occupied it is primarily occupied by furniture.

A room without any furniture pieces in it is absolutely useless.

The overall volume of the furniture elements directly affects

our comfort factors in a room.

If we consider the case of bedrooms here, a double bed is the

commodity that occupies maximum space. Just imagine if we remove

the double bed from your room what will happen? the room will

start looking bigger because of the perceived volume.

Now here is a little trick you can try? Instead of using a full

sized double how about using a platform bed? A platform bed is

nothing but a bed with less height than a full sized bed.

So what's so special about it? Because of the reduction in height

the overall volume of the bed as compared to other furniture pieces

is less. Because of the less volume of the bed the bedroom is

perceived bigger in size.

In addition to using a platform bed if bright color combinations

are used such as white and yellow, a small bedroom is perceived

as a slightly bigger room.

A normal double sized bed normally measure something around

1800mm(L)X1800(W)x450mm(H). But a platform bed has a slightly

less dimensions in plan and the height is about 15" that's about

380mm above the floor level.

This creates a less volumetric furniture piece which is visually

more light in weight than a full double sized bed. Platform beds

are available in wooden as well as steel structures. Many

manufacturers specifically manufacture mattresses and other

accessories that would specifically help the easy and comfortable

use of the platform bed.

Depending upon the design/material/finishing qualities a good price

range is also available. Being light in weight it can be easily moved

and transported to any location within a room.

If you are looking for a easy and affordable way to furnish your

bedroom, then a platform bed can be a better choice that would

fit into your budget and create a better aesthetically visual

quality.
