Pet Leather Collar
New collar on my dog?
I just got a new leather collar for my dog. It is the first permanent collar for him (by that i mean one he will wear almost all the time). I was just wondering if there is any way to tell if it is too tight or perfect. I put it one the third hole and I can still get two fingers through. I loosen it one and it seem too loose, fit all fingers through. To me it is okay on the third hole, sometimes it looks tight and other times it looks loose. It does not seem to bother him, besides it being itchy, but I think that is because he is not used to wearing a collar, but I don't want it to be hurting him. Are there any signs to look for? Should I go to a pet store and get them to look at it, or someone who knows how to tell? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so you say it can cause balding? But couldn't any collar cause balding? I think it could happen with any collar.
You did the perfect test by putting the fingers in. If two fingers go in good then it's not too tight and not too loose. I think you have it right. He'll get used to wearing a collar. All dogs do. I take my dog's collar off at night just to get rid of the "jingling" from id and rabies tags.

Where can I buy a red spiked leather collar?
I'm looking for a red spiked leather collar for my dog. She has a 14 or 16 inch neck. I have a black spiked leather collar for my larger dog but it's an 18" and like 1 3/4" wide, which is way to big for my smaller dog. I've looked at Petco and PetSmart and the other petstores near me and they don't have any. Non of the pet catalogs I have do either. The guy hat owns a store that sells dog stuff could probably oreder me one but I wanted to find somewgere else if I could. He's the one that oredered my other dogs for a really good price. Do you know how much spiked leather collars are? At PetSmart they wanted 50.00 for one but I got mine for less than twenty for the exact same thing. But back to the question, if you know where I can by a red spiked leather collar please tell me. I would even settle for one with just studs if I have to. She's got a black leather one with studs right now but I want a red one. Thanks.
