Collar Trainer Remote
Replacement transmitter for electric collar?

I have the PetSafe Deluxe Remote Trainer for my dogs. One of my dogs chewed up the transmitter (remote) for the collar. Does anyone know where I could buy just a replacement transmitter?

Personally I don't like the training collars. They have spike-like things that jab into the dogs neck and this is what makes them respond. but they are not necessarily learning. they are almost being forced into moving the way they think u want them to do. the puppy isnt necessarily not learning things. also, because of where she/he comes from. some dogs just take longer to learn and realize what you want. my mom is a pet groomer and owns her own business, so ive been around dogs my whole life, in her shop and helping with things growing up. i also always ask her questions about my bf's 2 pitbulls, and his roommats pitbull. your puppy sounds like he/she just needs constant, repetitive training and the dog will pick it up eventually. the main thing with training is to keep it repetitive, and constant. say only one word for "up" or "down" or "sit" dont use different words because theyll never pick up on it. you just need to be patient and reward the dog when it does the right thing. even if its half way right, ust training treats to help the progress. also get a book or magazine on the type of dog u have. you can learn specific things about your type of dog that might be different btwn the many different kinds of dogs

it could be a combination of or any of brushing your teeth too hard, gum shrinkage and gum disease.

When your gum has shrunk back and your roots are exposed this can cause sensitivity when brushing.

Your gums can shrink back from 1. brushing too hard causes damage to your gums 2. Not brushing them enough causes the gums to become infected and shrink back(called gum disease - also known as periodontal disease or pyorea). 3. a filling below the gum can lead to your gums to shrinking away from the filling.

Brushing very hard with a hard tooth brush can also wear the enamel layer on your tooth after a while, exposing the next layer of tooth called dentine. This can make your teeth sensitive to cold and to brushing.

A red gum may be because you realy scraped your gum very hard with something, or you have gum disease which is caused by plaque(made of bacteria) growing under your gums. Your gums don't like bacteria much and become red swollen and bleed very easily when you brush them.

Dogs must have bones!

The most common symbol associated with dogs, the 'bone', is actually damaging to dogs! It is an erroneous myth that dogs should have bones. Unless you are working with a specialist or are experienced in raw feeding do not give dogs raw food or bones. Dogs have dental care needs just like humans. Their teeth wear down from hard bones, and can even break. Cooked bones should never be given to dogs. The heat changes the chemical and physical properties of bones and they resist digestion and cannot be chewed properly, splintering into jagged shards. There are several options available to provide your dogs the chewing exercise they love and crave: Kongs; 'fill n freeze' nylon bones; and tough (but soft) chew toys.

Never disturb a dog when he's eating

One of the highest incidence rates of dog bites occurs when a dog's food is disturbed. Dog parents may conclude it's best not to disturb a dog when he's eating. But what it really means is that your dog sees you and/or your kids as a threat, rather than the best thing that's ever happened to him. Every dog should learn to look forward to the presence of people near their bowl because he's going to get a surprise yummy treat. To do this, start by hand feeding your dog-using an open palm. Then, each time you feed your dog, disturb his bowl or food in some way - starting with touching your dog and working your way to actually putting your hand in his bowl. That way, when someone inadvertently knocks his bowl over or a child reaches for his food, he won't respond as though his meal is being threatened.

A cold, wet nose, indicates a healthy dog

The nose of a healthy dog should be at normal body temperature unless he is out in cold, wintry air (just like our noses). So remember, it is not a wet nose that tells you your dog is healthy, but rather a dry, hot nose that tells you something may be wrong.

Brushing is good for the coat

This is a partial myth. While brushing is necessary to keep your dog's coat clean and detangled between baths, brushing too hard can roughen the hair cuticle, exposing its cortex and leaving the hair porous and frayed. Rule of thumb - if you can hear the brush, you are brushing too hard!

You must have a yard for your dog

Absolutely not true! Dogs are social animals, so they ultimately want to be with you. Ninety-nine percent of the time when a dog is in the yard, he's hanging out at the back door waiting to come back inside with you. And you'll notice that even inside a 10,000-square-foot house, the dog will tend to be right by your feet.

Dogs should not be fed table scraps

This is one of the most widespread myths the manufacturers of some pet food products perpetuate. They claim that table scraps will upset the balance of the commercial dog food. Just like humans, dogs should not be fed the same meal every single day of their lives. Dietary deficiencies do not appear overnight but need a long period of consistently poor nutrition to develop. Dogs will not automatically get fat, learn to beg at the table, or refuse to eat their own food just because they are fed table scraps. They will, however, do those things for various other reasons, like being overfed or trained that they can get food from your table. Feed your dog 'human' food in their bowls.

Pit Bulls have locking jaws

According to Dr. Sandy deLaHunta, a noted dog neurologist, and Dr. Katherine Houpt, a dog behaviorist, there is no such thing as "jaw locking" or a "jaw locking mechanism" in pit bulls or in any breed of dog. They both concurred that the power of the bite is proportional to the size of the jaws and the jaw muscles. And they concluded that there is no anatomical structure that could be a locking mechanism in any dog.

Where can I find a small, strong motor for my robo litterbox?

I have a robo litterbox for my cats that uses rakes to pick up the poop. Sometimes the rakes jam, but if the motor was a bit stronger, I'm sure they wouldn't. Where can I find a small electric motor that is stronger that I could use to replace the existing one?

You can take out the motor and go to a RC Hobby Shop and see if they have a micro or mini motor that would work and continue to spin the bowl at a slow speed

Or if you knew what size it was you could order a new one online. I looked at the manual and it doesn't list what kind of motor it is. I would assume that it is a micro class motor

You can use the smaller staples and a hammer. It isn't that difficult really. It takes a little time. I did the same thing with mine. I attached it to my existing fence and just dug a trench under the gate. I have 1/3 of an acre. Plus I'm female, old. and fat. It only took me a half a day and several thousand cuss words (hit my thumb with the hammer).

Invisible dog fences, sometimes called underground fences or hidden fences, are very popular with dog owners who wish to give their dog the freedom to run and play in a safe and confined area.

An invisible dog fence consists of an electric wire which is buried invisible along the perimeter of the area desired. The wire provides a weak radio signal that sends messages to a special collar which the dog will wear. As the dog approaches the boundary, the collar will beep, followed by a slight electric shock.

Choosing the right invisible dog fence can be confusing because of the wide variety of options available. Good quality fences are sold by PetSafe, Innotek, and Perimeter, among others.

There are a few important things to consider when buying, including an adequate warranty (at least 1 year), making sure that the receiver has a range of correction levels to personalize the training program for each dog.

Also, buying a sturdy wire is important for carrying the signal properly. 16-gauge wire is very durable and does this job well. For small dogs, the neck size should be checked to make sure the collar will fit. Most of the normal collars fit 8 inches around, though some fit 6 inches.

What's on your mind when you consider an all natural dog food? Could it be a commercial dog food which has the word 'natural' on the packet? Could it be you think of cooking your own dog food from scratch? Do you consider table scraps to be the ideal diet?

Wrong! None of the above will address your dog's health, Why not?

Well, the commercial dog food starts off with very low grade meat, mostly meat by-products (the better quality going for the higher priced human food), high fat and sometimes euthanased animals, which contain the chemical sodium pentobarbital. Then, to bulk out the already cheap 'meat', a non-nutritional filler is added. That can be sugar, as there's a world glut of it at the moment, or melamine if you live in China.

Then, to keep the product indefinitely at room temperature a preservative is added.

When you see a packet of dried dog food in the shop, with the slogan 'preservative free' ask yourself this question - how can dried 'meat' be kept indefinitely at room temperature without preservatives? Do you think you wouldn't have heard of a new way to do this, if there was?

So either there is no 'meat' or there is preservative present. Trouble is, the preservatives used are very strong, cause huge health problems and aren't allowed in human food.

So commercial dog food can be crossed off as an all natural dog food!.

I see quite a lot of 'dog experts' on the internet advocating you cook your own dog food. Whilst that is hugely better than commercial pet food, it's still missing the nutrients that are lost in cooking. Typically these are vitamins and enzymes, both essential for a healthy dog. But other nutrients are altered by cooking. Fat changes during the cooking process from a beneficial food to a harmful one.

So you can cross though this one too, as an all natural dog food.

What about table scraps? That depends so much on the table scraps. If the human food is a good, natural one of lots of raw fruit and veg, with lightly cooked meat, then these table scraps have the potential of being the best dog food out of all three options, as long as there is enough left over to satisfy your dog's nutritional needs.

If, however, your diet is typically fast food with a lot of processed food, then these table scraps will be little better than the commercial dog food.

Yet another cross through.

There is only one all natural dog food and that's the one dogs evolved on. Nothing that mankind has done has improved one iota on that. And considerable decline has occurred.

Dogs have evolved over millions of years on an all natural dog food and it keeps them happy and healthy.

Once you get to grips with the idea of how dogs evolved, duplicating that diet within the constraints of what is available and the limits on your time, is not that difficult. However, there are a few important things you need to know such as:

what food should not be given more than once a week should bones be given what carbohydrates are the best ones and how much are there any fruit or vegetables that shouldn't be given what amino acid is essential to a dog's healthy skin should you supplement the diet how do you convert the diet of an elderly or sick dog safely.

When you change the diet of your dog from a commercial pet food to an all natural dog food, there may initially be a de-toxing period. This is normal and natural, but can seem a bit scary to you if you don't understand why it's happening and the symptoms. It should be of short duration, depending on your dog's age and level of health.

Dogs digestion is robust. They have evolved on eating raw meat and carrion. They can't cope with preservatives, fillers, high fat or low grade protein, none of which occurs (at least in high proportions) in nature.

Once you have your dog on an all natural dog food, you'll find fewer and fewer health problems. I'm sure you'd be as happy as anyone, to cut your dog's professional health fees.
