Schofield Barracks pet limit?
Does anyone know how many dogs you can have on base at Schofield Barracks??? My husband is going back into the army in a few months and this is where we would like to be stationed. We have 2 dogs though so we want to make sure that they can come too. I know about the quarantine and all of that stuff, I just can't find info on the pet limit. Thanks!!!
My dogs aren't aggressive breeds. We have a border collie/retriever mix and a siberian husky. So that shouldn't be a problem.
I dont think there is any limit as too how many pets you can have. But I know that your two dogs wont be any problem. But I do know for sure that there is a $75 dollar pet fee once you move into base housing. They ask for the dogs chip numbers /names and ages of the dogs. or cats. When you move out they make you pay to de-flea the carpets and have to show proof of it, or housing charges you even more than the price of having someone just come in and de-flea the carpets.
My next door neighbor does pet sitting and has all kinds of different dogs over at her house. and housing hasnt said anything to her yet.
Oh and the brand new housing which is Porter Community and Kalakaua Community all have fenced in yards. The older communties dont have fenced in yards for all the houses. So ask for Porter and Kalaukau Community. =)

Joining the army, rules on housing and pet ownership.?
In under half a year i plan to join the British Army as a Dog handler, and i just want to know the rules and regulations on keeping animals. Although i would have a dog as a handler, i would like to have a pet dog also. Now i have a family that would be willing to care for it when away on tour. I talked to the online careers office but that was no help. I understand that it would be hard to keep a pet i the barrack block, however when i asked if i could live in a house near to the barracks i didn't get a good answer. So i suppose the main question is can i live off base if single and not of officer rank. I have the money. Plus any other known rules on pets please.
Advice from Ex/Recruiters/knowlagable members of the armed forces are especialy welcome.
LMAO @ Vicky, why do ppl answer when they clearly know sod all about the topic of the question?
I agree with Jennings on this one. Anyone can live off camp but you will have to pay normal civvie prices. Most stay in the block for at least the first couple of years because a) it's a hell of a lot cheaper and b) most people make good friends with guys they live around and have a great social life.
I've heard rumours in the past that there's a rule (in the RAF at least) that if everyone in your block gives consent and the SWO or RSM gives permission then you can keep pets in the block but I've never actually seen this happen in permanent blocks. It's common practice in the RAF for dog owners to bring their dog to the office (so it won't be in the house all day) as long as a. they are toilet trained and not disruptive or agressive b. The boss ok's it and c. no-one you work with is scared of dogs or has any objections to it's presence.
All that said and done, I have no experience working with actual dog handlers, just regular RAF and Army.
I would just enjoy the army lifestyle for at least a year and then if you still have your heart set on it maybe see if you can flat share with another dog lover who would share responsibility for walking etc.
