Cool T-shirts become Cooler

Most t-shirts are just begging to be layered. First of all, layer t-shirts with each other. This looks especially hip with a cool t-shirt on top. They scream out to be layered with your favorite polos, long sleeved t-shirts, dress shirts and summer sweaters. Be ahead of the crowd and layer your t-shirts (for gals) with cool tanks and camis. Color is often key, so don't be afraid to layer lots of colorful t-shirts (but no more than two at a time, please.) Cut down on bulk (unless you are in need of bulk) and keep your layers light or of lighter-weight t-shirt fabrics. Another tip is to keep the first layer a little lighter in gauge than the one you are wearing overtop. If you long for a more athletic look (even if you are not so athletic), definitely try the long-sleeved t-shirt underneath a funny or vintage t-shirt. Tanks and Camis Rock in Layers

If you want to layer your tank underneath a layer, choose a thin-gauge tank. Guys and gals can wear a thin tank well under most anything, especially button-downs and polos. Girls, keep an eye on the girls while wearing a super thin tank (monitor your buttons occasionally to avoid unwanted overexposure.) And you may want to choose a heavier-weight over layer. There's something about geeky gals and guys! The geeks have it when it comes to the sweater vest. Summer-weight sweater vests can be a cool layering item for the season. Layer your sweater vest over a dressy shirt or cool t-shirt for a crisp, classy and casual look. Triple layer with a t-shirt, shirt and vest on cooler days. Avoid looking overly particular and preppy by keeping your cuffs unbuttoned or maybe rolled-up, and unbutton any buttons at your collar.

Play with your Polos

Layer under your polo or layer over your polo? Which do you prefer? Over the sportier, bolder polo a sport coat, jacket or blazer with a minimalist print or fabric pattern is best. Over a classic polo, you can get a bit more exotic with the design in your topper. Under your polo, the sky's the limit. We like to see color peeking out at the color, and not necessarily perfectly matching color. Keep the under t-shirt sleek and thin. Go for long or short sleeves. You are the stuff!

Kick it up a Notch: Shrugs, Cardigans and Sweaters

Dress things up a bit with layers under your shrug, cardigan or sweater for more formal occasions. Class, family events, dates, job hunting might be ideal for this layering style. Pick your pleasure and layer under it a more classic and tailored undershirt. Here it is usually best to keep your collar and cuffs under control and in place for a clean-cut, classic appearance. Gals, sound a bit to stuffy for your taste? Try layering a shrug, or pseudo-cardigan over-top a cool t-shirt or sexy camisole.
