Dog Collar Studded
80s-style punk costume?

My school Social is coming up, and the theme is Time Warp. I want to go as an 80s-style punk, but I'm not sure about my costume. I was thinking a black band t-shirt (Metallica or something), ripped-up black jeans, black Doc Martens, a black studded dog collar, safety pins in my ears, fake eyebrow, lip and nose piercings, either a bracelet made of safety pins, Anarchy wristbands or studded wristbands, black eyeliner, dark purple lipstick, my jaw-length hair spiked out and dyed black, and black nailpolish.

Is this accurate? I want my costume to be as authentic as possible. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Unforuntaely, my hair isn't long enough for a mohawk, and I'm not sure that red or green will hold, my hair is kind of orange. It's supposed to be copper-orange, but it's a bit dye-f*cked at the moment.
Thanks heaps, On The Radio Uh Oh. Teased hair and everything I can do - I assume dyeing it black works?

Metallica shirt = so not punk. Things have since merged a bit more (if only for the sake of irony), but in the 80s, Metallica was seen as a bloated stadium metal band, which was the opposite of "punk".

Also, studded collars, facial piercings, etc... weren't terribly popular in the 80s (at least the early 80s... by the late 80s, things had branched out more). Keep in mind the 80s punk look was more deliberately identified with street culture, so obvious accessories were generally considered gauche (as, if you can afford studded collars and wristbands, you obviously had money), as opposed to the 70s when it was still largely influenced by glam, and late 80s/90s when the "Hot Topic" look started becoming big.

Try a plain t-shirt or flannel (also could work: plain black longsleeve, a girly/frilly blouse but mostly covered up by jacket or hoodie), military blazer or peacoat (the older and rattier, the better), black jeans (cuffed) or skirt (w/ stockings) both black, Doc Martens, etc... NOTHING "anarchy" related (it was considered tacky and juvenile), no facial piercings (but as many earrings as you can fit on your ears is fine... but ONLY your ears), safety pins should be practically placed (to close up holes, to fit the clothing properly, etc...) if used at all, etc... Hair should either be teased/feathered (a la Siouxsie Sioux) or left down - unless you're willing to shave the sides, I wouldn't spike it/put it into a mohawk. No black nail polish. If you wear any jewelry, keep it simple like a chain necklace (possibly with a cross)... certainly no safety pins and definitely nothing studded... again, safety pins were more for practical purposes, and studs were for bikers and the gay S&M scene (when they finally became big in punk in the mid 80s, they were typically only on jackets - not collars or bracelets).

That would be more authentic. The look you seem to be going for is more of a 90s "mall goth" look than 80s punk.

Why dress your Pit Bull or Staffy like a Gayboy Cruiser?

Why the heavy chains and harness? even they would not break a well made collar and lead.
Do you dress your dog in chains and leather like they were extras in Al Pachino's film Cruising? You know, the film about murder in the 1970s gay scene?
Dont forget the leather cap with chains, and spikey studs for the collar though.

LOL. That's too funny. I think they do it to increase their "tough" image. All it really does is back up the bad pit bull image, which is false for well bred APBTs.

On the other hand, I use PLAIN leather collars with metal straps on all of my APBTs, because they WILL break plastic buckles, and I have had one break through a nylon collar before.

Got dog breeding problems? Canine artificial insemination is the only sure-fire solution. Every dog breeder experiences breeding dog mating behavior hassles from time to time... In my years as a Veterinarian, I've seen them all! And you'll see, DIY canine artificial insemination is easy.

Here are some common dog breeding problems that canine artificial insemination helps to overcome:

Behavioral Problems

Behavioral problems are a frequent reason breeders turn to AI. While an experienced stud dog can often unerringly detect receptivity in bitches, many, especially young dogs, just don't get it. Often this is due to past punishment of mounting behavior. And some male dogs just have a very low sex drive, particularly submissive dogs that are naturally low in the canine social pecking order.

Another common problem is the over-excited stud dog who becomes erect before successful penetration. Being territorial animals, the confidence and thus sexual behavior of the dog is highest when they are on their home turf. So for natural matings, the bitch should be brought to the male's home otherwise his sexual behavior may be inhibited. When this is not possible, AI is an option.

Bitches may also be aggressive toward the intended sire and not allow breeding, for whatever reason. Often this is simply due to inappropriate timing for the mating. She is simply not ready! Natural encounters with such bitches can damage a dog's libido. Similarly some male dogs are so aggressive that natural mating is not advisable.

AI also protects the stud dog from injury that may occur if the bitch thrashes about during a tie.

Protecting the Dog from Infection

For many stud dog owners, the decision to do canine artificial insemination exclusively, is made to protect the dog from infection from a bitch.

Physical Problems

AI can be used to overcome a significant difference in size between the bitch and the dog.

In the male, AI can overcome weakness or pain when mounting due to arthritis, injury or prostatic disease. A dog with a missing limb or an injury to a rear leg or spine may not be able to stand on his rear to tie bitches. As long as the disability doesn't reflect a genetic or structural unsoundness, canine artificial insemination can keep this dog producing.

Geographic Separation

If the bitch and the desired stud are some distance from each other, and transportation of the bitch to the male is not practical, his semen can prepared and be shipped to her.

To Cover Two Bitches at Once

The ejaculate, if of good quality, can be split to cover 2 bitches.

Overcoming Time Constraints

Fresh dog semen can last up to 6 days in the bitch. An early AI, a little before the dog or bitch are physiologically quite ready to mate, can be used to effectively "cover" the following 3 to 4 days if other commitments preclude a natural mating during that time.

Similarly, to maximize litter size many breeders opt to inseminate "one last time" just after the sexual interest of the bitch or dog has passed.

To Allow Semen Evaluation Prior to Breeding

Breeders that do canine artificial insemination exclusively find that the opportunity it provides to continually evaluate their stud's semen is invaluable in picking up fertility problems before they become serious or result in missed litters.

To Boost the Stud's Confidence

A skillfully managed collection can help the dog gain confidence and actually train him for a natural breeding career, rather than overly tiring him from unsuccessful attempts at natural mating and spoiling him for natural breeding.
