Fit Safety

I want to fit safety Air Bags to a Mk1 MR2, a car that never had them as standard, can anyone help?

I realise this is a difficult task and I am aware that messing with these things is dangerous. Rather than just not trying I am hoping to actually succeed in fitting safe, absolutely trustworthy airbags in my car. I realise that one absolutely correct answer is unlikely so if people could just share there knowledge and point me towards all of the issues relating to this important issue I would be so grateful. Again, I'm not looking to ignorantly and blindly mess with complex safety equipment, I want something that will actually work when called upon.
Why don't I get a Mk2, well, if you don't know I can't tell you. I just love the Mk1, the 2 is too sophisticated and I've just wanted a Mk1 for 20 years. I have an idea that a lot of old cars could do with some modern safety but I've been told it can't be done.

I would guess that your best bet would be to find a Mk2 MR2 with a complete airbag system and get that. Study how it was installed and do your best to copy that in your car. This would have a good chance of at least the steering wheel being a direct fit.

Would it maybe be possible to install the full Mk2 dashboard with passenger airbag into a Mk1??

When you install the SRS (Supplemental Restrain System) control unit (ECM/brain) make sure that it is pointed in the same direction as it was in the original car. These are directional so that they only go off in the event of a sudden deceleration accident. (They don't go off when rear-ended or when hit in the side, so only one direction is "active.")

Good luck with it! It sounds like a major undertaking.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to do this? Wouldn't it be easier and possibly even cheaper, and certainly safer to just buy a Mk2 MR2?? (You can respond by putting additional info on your question. Thanks!)

Using a hair straightener can help tame your hair. However, there are times when you need to remember basic safety rules. These rules apply to both hair straighteners and your hair as well. If you keep these things in mind, you will be on your way to more beautiful straight hair. So read on ahead and learn all that you can about how best to use a hair straightener. Remember, people who will not follow these guidelines will most likely end up with scorched or singed hair – and maybe even a broken iron!

A hair straightener is a device for your hair that runs on electricity and heat, therefore basic safety rules about voltage must always be followed. Before you plug in your hair straightener into a socket, make sure you know what voltage it is to avoid fusing or even the device exploding. You can easily check out the voltage of hair straighteners either on the box or somewhere etched onto the plug. If you find that it is not compatible with the sockets you have at home, you can solve this easily. Simply go to the electric store and buy an adaptor that will fit your plug and you can then use the device at home without worry.

Also, a hair straightener will continuously run on heat for as long as it is plugged in. At some point, the heat might get too much for your hair if it does not come with an automatic OFF button. If your hair straightener does not have one, remember to unplug it every ten to fifteen minutes or so. You can use the excess heat from the unplugged hair straightener for a couple more strokes before you need to plug it in again. This is also a good way to save electricity and maximize the heat generated from hair straighteners. Also, you save your hair because you do not scorch it with really high heat levels from the iron.

For your hair, remember that it is always good to coat it with a protective gloss or leave-on conditioner before subjecting it to the hair straightener. This is important because over time, your hair will show signs of beating if you are not able to condition it properly. While your hair is still damp, rub on a dollop of rich hair cream through the strands – especially on the area where you really tend to linger while using hair straighteners. The coating will protect the hair shafts from the heat while still maintaining its smooth and silky texture. So if you want to protect your hair, make sure to put hair cream before ironing.

These basic safety tips will surely go a long way when it comes to your hair straightening efforts. Remember that you bought such a device so you can make your hair look even better, not to dry it up or to make it look burned out. If you follow these hair straightener safety tips and hair conditioning reminder, your hair will be subjected to less beating while it is being ironed out.

Using a hair straightener comes with some safety reminders. If you want to have a safer time with hair straighteners do remember to keep in mind some important things.
