Im getting a pit bull but where would I socialize my pit bull terrier with other dogs?

I learned that its best for the pit bull to avoid dog parks..so.....

P.S I'm planning to take him to training school( if he never went to) til he graduates and I want him to socialize alot with humans and dogs.

I have a 3 year old Am Bulldog/Staffy mix. He's temperament-tested and obedience-trained. As a puppy, he was socialized extensively and exposed to a variety of people, places, animals, and events. I often took him to dog parks and dog beaches, where he played in a perfectly acceptable manner. However, when he was about 2 years old, the dog aggression (that I read would most likely appear but about which had my doubts because my dog seemed so friendly with other dogs) started rearing its ugly head. Now, at 3, he can no longer safely participate in events/places with other dogs. I do not trust him not to fight, and I am concerned for his safety and emotional wellbeing, as the presence of other dogs seems to be extremely stressful and agitating for him.

The point is this: here we have a well-socialized, obedient pit bull with a stable temperament, who still developed dog aggression. Dog aggression exists on a continuum, ranging from dog-social (like most puppies) to dog-intolerant (like many pit bulls and bully breeds). Pit bulls can fall anywhere on the continuum, but most lean toward the more dog-intolerant side. Many of the posters on here had excellent suggestions about how and when to socialize, but failed to point out that dog aggression is a genetic trait over which owners have no control. Dog aggression CANNOT be loved, trained, or socialized "out", but it can be easily managed by a responsible and cognizant owner who recognizes this genetic trait as typical for the breed and takes proactive measures to ensure the safety of their dog and that of others' pets. In time, you will be able to better judge the amount of dog aggressiveness your pit bull exhibits and decide what situations, if any, are appropriate for him to participate in. Like another poster on here, you may well end up with a pit bull that can still go to dog parks and participate safely and appropriately. Just be prepared that the day may come when he no longer can and you need to find alternative ways to continue socialization.

It is still vitally important to continue socialization and reinforce manners, even if you have a dog-aggressive dog. My dog has one or two dog "friends" that he enjoys socializing with, and we schedule regular supervised doggie play-dates. One-on-one interaction with another known dog seems to be less stressful for him and we leave when he's had enough, or when the play gets too rough. Being able to read your dog is helpful in making sure your dog is having fun throughout the date. We also continue to work on polite greetings: I am of the mindset that although my dog is intolerant of other dogs and cannot safely interact with them, he can still have manners and be able to safely pass another dog on the sidewalk, etc.

Also, do continue to socialize with all kinds of people. The majority of pit bulls are very people-friendly and prefer human company over dog company anyway. A little one-on-one with their owner is always appreciated too, especially when that time is used contructively, like working on commands or manners.

To conclude, as I mentioned above, the best advice I ever got as a pit bull owner is NEVER trust your bully not to fight. They may not often start it, but you can bet they'll finish it. Don't give your pit bull the chance to show you what he is capable of.

But these pitbulls are not at all happy at rescue centers as these dogs love the attention and care of the human beings. But these dogs can adjust themselves to the new situation as quickly as possible and develops bonds with the new people.

The dog's adaptability to the rescue center depends very much on the attention provided at the rescue center, the dog's temperament, and the past experience of the dog.

Pitbull and Children

These pitbulls love to play with the children. But there is a word of caution. As these dogs are filled with energy to the brim, they can accidentally knock or pump on the children.

Hence the parents must be near the playing area when the children are playing with the dog. This kind of accidental bumping will be more common if the pitbulls are below two years of age.

Pitbulls and Other Breeds

There one very important pit-bull information. These dogs can't tolerate the other dogs as these pitbulls are dog aggressive. These pitbulls are very aggressive towards the dogs of other breeds especially if the dogs are of same sex.

At puppy stage these pitbulls can tolerate the other breeds. This may mislead the inexperienced owner. The person with sufficient pitbull information will be the perfect owner for these popular breed of dogs.
