How do I keep water off the floor from my cats water bowl?
I have a maine coon and she loves to play in her water bowl. The problem is that we have hard wood floors. So the water leaves water stains if i forget to wipe it up. We tried having a mat under the food and water but the water ended up getting under the mat and making more of a mess. Does anyone have any good ideas of what i could do with the water bowl in order to keep the wood floors dry?

We had the same problem with our Oriental Shorthairs. We have carpeted floors almost exclusively in our home, and this was a huge mess as well.
There are two things I can suggest from experience.
We used a carpet sample, placing it over the carpet in the room. It was sufficiently large enough to catch any spills, and one which we could replace easily when it was ruined. I try and remember to use a paper towel on it, but I must say that the carpet sample takes more of a beating than our regular carpet. You could also try a plastic placemat that is large enough to catch any spills.
Put your water bowl in the bathroom. We actually have two water bowls going all the time. Our second one is in our master bathroom. We have it on a rather large plastic placemat. This works great. It is rather attractive as it has cats as a theme:)
