What would you do when you have to take a trip for several days or weeks at a time without someone being able to watch over your birds? If it is possible to bring your bird cage with you into the car, then maybe you can take your feathered companion along. However, realistically most parrot cages cannot fit into the car. Therefore, bird travel cages are ideal for taking your bird to travel with you. Not only these bird travel carriers are great for taking your bird with you on a trip, you can also use it to carry it with you to the vet, to grooming or any other places. You will not regret it once finding the right bird travel cage for your bird. Now you too can travel happily together.

Different types of trips can sometimes require different types of carriers. Ideally, you should get a carrier that is flexible to different trip options. For instance, if you are looking to take your bird on the plane, make sure the carrier is approved by the airline. Perhaps if a bird travel carrier is not approved, there are other alternatives such as cat and dog carriers for the plane. Otherwise, you should really look to take care of your other needs. Wire and stainless steel carriers are great for bigger parrots who have very big beaks. They can break the travel cages right away if given a chance. For smaller birds, a light mesh bird carrier is the best since it is not difficult to carry. A knock down cage would be even more ideal because now you will have more room in the house.

Don't forget to put a perch in the bird carrier. Your pet is not going to have a lot of fun navigating the bottom of the cage. You should use perches that are rougher on the surface so that your parrot will not slip. Remember, sometimes the carrier will sway a bit as you're carrying it along to different places.

Your feathered companion should get used to the carrier before you consider taking it for travel for extended period of time. You can always put your pet at easy by letting it hang inside the cage for awhile first so that it would get used to its surrounding. Also, throwing in the parrot's favorite toys and treats would make the transition much easier. Constantly check up on your bird once you take it on the road because you do not know how the bird feels until it is actually in motion. You can always tighten the cage with a belt, or even a seat belt to protect the bird completely.

You may also consider a portable play stand depending on where you are going. If you're going to stay at any place for a certain time, small bird play stands are great for carrying it around on the road and still be able to offer the parrot sometime to hang outside of the cage and have fun.

Always research thoroughly before you make a decision on purchasing the travel bird cages. But these carriers would make it much on your parrot and yourself. Now you can have fun and travel without any worries.

The Hemolytic Anemia

This kind of anemia is an autoimmune disease that depends on many factors. Most of the times the female dogs are more affected than males. Some breeds are more affected than others and these breeds include: terriers, spaniels, poodles, etc. Some triggers for the hemolytic anemia may include bee venom, bee infection, zinc contamination etc.

Possible Causes

The red blood cells in the body do not function properly and this can cause anemia.

Another cause may be the disorders and diseases of the red blood cells. Sometimes blood loss can determine this and so does the insufficient production of red blood cells are also responsible for the same. Other infectious diseases, iron deficiency, severe injuries, cancer, autoimmune diseases and some genetic disorders can cause this in dogs.

Basic Symptoms

Sometimes the pale gums are a clear indication of anemia. Many dogs also display weakness and they can even faint many times. Sometimes they even develop a yellowish skin and they vomit. In rare cases anemia can determine blood in the urine or the feces. Sometimes the pulse of the dog tends to decrease and he also experiences difficulty in breathing. Behavior changes also occur.

The Treatments

Treating the underlying problems is the best way to deal with this issue. Healing anemia is all about curing the causes. It is best to go to the veterinarian and let him provide the treatment. He will do several tests to determine the best course of action. The dog must also eat quality dog food.

Also, make sure to keep the dog well hydrated. Make him take sufficient rest. These remedies will not help is getting rid of anemia but, they will definitely help in alleviating the situation. Also, make sure that the place where the dog is residing in clean, neat and tidy. Also, you must give your dog food that has a lot of iron in it.

In this way he will get iron through natural sources. If the dog suffers from ticks, worms, fleas or any parasite you must get rid of them. There are many remedies that will help you with that and they are not at all expensive.

Canada is renowned the world over for it's impressive variety of wildflowers and habitats. The sheer variety of flowers found in Canada is partially due to the vast expanse of land and the extreme variations in climate and habitat found across the country. At some point in their esteemed history, each province or territory in Canada has adopted an official flower to represent and symbolize their region. That being said, the official flowers for each province or territory are not necessarily unique to that particular area.

Alberta first selected their official flower back in the 1930's. The Wild Rose (rosa acicularis) was selected to be the official provincial flower by a group of school children. The Wild Rose is a large, pink, fragrant flower that grows predominantly on rocky mountainous slopes. The Wild Rose, however, can be found in various areas of Canada.

British Columbia designated the Pacific Dogwood as their provincial flower in 1956. The Pacific Dogwood, or cornus nuttallii, produces clustered cream coloured flowers which bloom in the spring and produce bright red berries in the fall. It's worth noting that the Pacific Dogwood is a protected species in Canada.

Manitoba also allowed school children to select their provincial flower. In 1906, the Prairie Crocus was selected to represent the province of Manitoba. The Prairie Crocus, or anemone patens, is lavender-coloured and blooms in the early spring; often before all of the snow has melted.

New Brunswick deemed the Purple Violet their provincial flower in 1936, at the request of the provincial Women's Institute. The Purple Violet, or viola cucullata, is a stemless flower that starts to bloom in May and continues throughout the summer months.

Newfoundland / Labrador adopted the Pitcher Plant as their official provincial flower in 1954. The Pitcher Plant, or sarracenia purpurea, has a large wine-red flower with a red and gold centre. It grows primarily in marshland and bogs, and was shown on the Newfoundland penny coin in the 1880's. It is worth noting that the purple Pitcher Plant is the only member of the genus to inhabit a cold temperature climate.

Nova Scotia's official provincial flower is the Trailing Arbutus, which is commonly known as the Mayflower. It was made official in 1901, and it's pale pink and white blossoms flourish in the springtime months from March until May. The Mayflower, or epigaea repens, is a spreading shrub from the Ericaceae family and is known for it's lovely fragrance.

Ontario selected the White Trillium as it's official flower in 1937. It is generally found in deciduous forests and woodlands, and is easily recognizable by it's while, three-petalled flowers. The White Trillium, or trillium grandiflorum, is a protected species in Ontario provincial parks.

In 1947, Prince Edward Island adopted a member of the Orchid family as it's provincial flower. The Lady's Slipper, or cypripedium acaule, flowers in late May and is commonly found in moist, shady woodlands. It is easily recognized by it's lovely pink flowers, and is characterized by it's slipper-shaped pouches.

The predominantly French-speaking province of Quebec chose the Madonna Lily as their provincial flower. It was initially chosen due to it's likeness to the Fleur-de-Lis on the provincial flag. Ironically, this flower is not native to Quebec. In 1999, the provincial flower of Quebec was changed to the Blue Flag Iris. It is commonly found in marshes, meadows and along stream banks throughout the province.

Saskatchewan selected the Western Red Lily, or lullium philadelphicum, as their official flower in 1941. A protected species that grows in semi-wooded areas and meadows, the Red Western Lily produces distinctive orange and red blossoms in the summer months of June to August. It is also featured on the provincial flag of Saskatchewan.

The Northwest Territories provincial flower is the Mountain Avens; otherwise known as dryas integrifolia. It was selected in 1957. It produces small, white flowers and is quite common in the northern tundra of the NWT. It flowers in the springtime, and grows in barren, rocky areas in full view of the sun.

The territory of Nanavut chose the Purple Saxifraga as their flower in the year 2000. Otherwise known as saxifrage oppositifolia, it is easily recognized by it's bright purple star shaped flowers which appear shortly after the snow disappears for the season.

The Yukon Territory selected the Fireweed as their floral emblem in 1957. The Fireweed, or epilobium angustifolium, produces small clusters of dark pink flowers. On average, the stems on these flowers range from three to seven feet tall. Their peak season ranges from July to September.

The throw-in during a soccer game is one of three methods of restarting play after the whole of the ball has crossed the entire width of the touch line. The ball crossing the touch line can occur either in the air or on the ground. The throw-in is the only time that outfield players can legitimately handle the ball.

Allowing players to kick the ball into play from the touchline would lead to virtual free kicks. However, not restricting the throw-in would change the nature of the sport altogether. As a result, Law 15 regulates the throw-in for soccer.

Procedure

The throw-in should be taken from the point where the ball left the field of play along the touchline. The player taking the throw must face the field on play and have both feet either on the touchline or on the ground outside the touchline. He must also use both of his hands and deliver the ball from behind and over his head. The ball is in play once it enters the field of play; whether on the ground or in the air.

The foul-throw

The foul-throw is a common type of throw-in infringement at lower levels of soccer. This throw does not conform to the throw-in procedure. In other words, any one of the following can result in a foul-throw:

i) The player not facing the field of play at the moment he takes the throw (for acrobats).

ii) One or both feet are completely off the ground when the throw is taken.

iii) Throwing to one side of your head or another (as opposed to directly over).

iv) Delaying the release of the ball until the hands are well past the forehead.

There can be several other manifestations of foul-throws. Ultimately, a foul-throw must contravene the specifications for a proper throw. Players are allowed to run-up before throwing or perform acrobatics once they perform the throw-in correctly at the end.

Other infringements

Beside the foul-throw, the thrower can commit other infringements associated with the throw-in. An opponent can also commit an infringement during this method of restarting play.

The thrower cannot play the ball a second time unless it has touched another player. If this is done, an indirect free kick shall be awarded to the opponent where the second touch occurred.

If the thrower throws the ball into the thrower's goal, a corner kick is awarded. If the ball is thrown directly (no touch by any player) into the opponents' goal, a goal-kick should be awarded.

The throw-in is not the time to exact revenge on an opponent or the referee. If you take a throw-in properly but deliberately smash the ball against an opponent, teammate or official in a careless, reckless or dangerous manner, you may be sanctioned. However, if the ball is played off an opponent in a manner that is not careless, reckless or dangerous, play should continue.

When the ball touches the ground before entering the field of play and the throw-in was properly taken, the throw-in is retaken by the same team. If the throw-in was not taken properly and this happens, the opposing team should retake the throw.

The ball can enter the field of play in the air. If the ball swerves wickedly in the air after a throw-in and went out of bounds before even touching the ground, the other team will restart play from a throw-in.

Opponents should be at least two metres from the point on the touchline that the throw must be taken from. Failure to adhere to this can result in a warning first and then a caution (yellow card). If the thrower fails to take the throw-in from the spot indicated by the referee, the throw-in can be awarded to the other team.

Officiating

The assistant and referee share the responsibility of determining if the ball goes out of play along the touch line and which team is entitled to the throw. Eye contact is necessary for the referee and his assistants to not give conflicting signals. The assistant generally has more responsibility for the side of the touchline that he or she is patrolling, while the referee handles the other side. However, when doubt arises, either can look to the other for help.

Signaling

Referees simply indicate which direction the throw is going with their hands and arms. Assistant referee extend their arm at an angle in the direction of the throw. If the assistant referee is unsure, the flag should be raised to indicate that the ball has gone out of play. Then assistant should then follow the referee's decision.
