The Petsafe instant fence utilizes a revolutionary concept that offers the safest and simplest form of pet containment. The installation process itself is very easy. The system's transmitter can simply be plugged in any convenient area in the house or garage. Your dog can wear a lightweight receiver collar that will detect the signal emitted by the transmitter. While the collar is receiving the signal, your dog can freely play in the contained area. Once the pet approaches the boundary, a simple beep will warn him. Training Your Pet

If you want to take your dog for a walk out of the boundary, you can create the concept of "invisible gate." You can take out the dog through the "invisible gate." To do this, you can put a long leash on the collar and turn it off as well. Remove the collar and command the dog to the "sit and stay" position near the area that you designated as the invisible gate. One can come out of the invisible gate as ask the dog to "come." What age does dog need to be before you can use a wireless fence receiver? Collar has 6 levels of correction.?

The best time for most dogs are about 16 weeks. But make sure it is at the lowest settings. The reason for 16 weeks They are in the stage of being trained and will learn from a early age where they can and cant go. If you use the system to early The dog will get scared and you will have a hrd time getting the dog to even go outside.
If at 16 weeks you use it and this eems to happen that he wont even walk out the door then wait 2 more weeks and go from there. as time goes by turn up the settings. if done at a early age like this then there is a good chance after several years you will be able to take the unit off the dog and he will stay in the yard. Good luck.
Please remember the unit is to train him/her not to make his/her hair to stand up on end. not saying you would do that but some people think i will just turn it up all the way that will teach him. that is not always the truth

what do you think about the petsafe wireless instant fence?

we are thinking of getting it

I have known many dogs that went right thru the fence. My g/f's MinPin went thru her invisible fence and broke her leg, twice. It does nothing to prevent stray dogs form coming over, beating up your dog and leaving feces and fleas. At my dog obed class there was a man with a Rott and he sold Invisible Fences, he bragged about how wonderful they were so I told him I didn't belive in them. Lots of dogs will blow thru the fence after another dog or squirrel and if they are not HBC when they try to go back into their yard they get shocked. This teaches them home=shock so they can not get home and are on the road. He poo pooed my objections and said he Rott never went thru it. Two years later he was back at class with a different Rott, he saw me and told me I had been right and he no longer sold the fences. His Rott went thru the fence after a cat and was killed by the car going by. The one and only time in 2 yrs he went thru he was killed. He installed a chain link fence b4 he go this new dog.
